Scott DUCKson undefeated in first weekend of new race series (QUACKY-FOWL racing series)

Opening weekend of duck racing at Maris Farms saw the debut of a new race series as well as one of the most dominant performances in the event’s 11-year history by an individual DUCK-athlete. Scott DUCKson came out strong on Saturday afternoon for an easy 5-meter victory in the debut of the QUACKY-FOWL racing series – a series geared more toward a car racing theme the likes of Indy, NASCAR and F-1 racing.

The series replaced the decade-old Iron Duck World Championships.

“It has been what we’ve been training and working so hard for all off-season long,” DUCKson explained to the post-race press gathering after the final race on Sunday. “I felt extremely confident and no pressure going into the day. It was a huge crowd, they were into it, and I didn’t want to disappoint.”

DUCKson never looked back after that first victory. He won the second race of the day and then both races on Sunday to go undefeated (4-0) and take command of the month-long event over the 5-duck field.

“We haven’t seen that dominant of an opening weekend performance ever,” said race announcer and QUACKmaster Dennis Riley. “No racer has ever swept the entire weekend. I think DUCKson might be one of those ‘once-in-a-generation’ phenoms!”

DUCKson came into the season looking much more fit than a majority of the DUCKpetitors. It looks like his toughest competition will be MUSCOVY Andretti, son of one of the sport’s greatest DUCKathletes, MALLARD Andretti. MUSCOVY finished second to DUCKson in all four races, while the rest of the field lagged behind.

“My team and I will be focusing on training specifically for how to beat DUCKson next weekend,” Andretti said. “He had a solid weekend, and I was right there. The money races start next weekend, and I’ll be ready to put the throttle to my waddle.”

On paper, it looks like DUCKson is a shoe-in to take this weekend’s big race and the season series, but I think Andretti is a serious threat with a few adjustments,” race director Steve Templeman said. “MUSCOVY is no stranger to the intensity of a season-long series like this and has grown up learning the adjustments needed to be competitive from week to week. He’ll give DUCKson a strong challenge this upcoming weekend for the DUCKtona.”

Here are the results after the first weekend:

Stunning upset, but Scott DUCKson continues his dominance, capturing 3 of 4 weekend races

A weekend of wacky racing in the QUACKY-FOWL racing series (presented by Goodwill ORR and Bootlegger’s Bar & Grill) was capped by a stunning upset in the DUCKtona 500 on Sunday afternoon. Danica DUCKtrick, one of four winless DUCKathletes going into the marquee race, not only shocked a standing room only crowd of race watchers, but shocked an undefeated Scott DUCKson as well, by inching out the victory over him by a beak at the finish.

“Stunned and a little mystified,” DUCKson said after the race. “I felt great all weekend, but I think I just lost focus in that last one, the one that mattered most. It’s a hard one to swallow right now. This is a really fowl feeling.”

Indeed, when the lights were brightest, it was the young and colorful Danica DUCKtruck, the only female DUCkathlete in the field this season, who found that extra gear to capture the inaugural DUCKtona 500.

“Of course I felt I could win, we’re all capable and can win on any given day,” DUCKtrick told the post-race press gathering. “But the way Scott’s been dominating, I’m sure most of you didn’t think anyone else had a chance. That’s why we don’t read your quack-head predictions. And that’s why we run the race.”

DUCKson was almost a quarter of the way to the finish and well on his way to winning when the rest of the field began exiting the pond and climbing to the platform. Then DUCKson stopped, and waited, almost in a taunting fashion.

“I think he got a little bit to big for his britches,” said race announcer Dennis QUACKmaster Riley. “When Danica passed him, he was in shock and couldn’t recover. He said some pretty fowl things on their way back to the racing quarters. Heat of the battle.”

DUCKson came into the weekend and Sunday’s DUCKtona 500 as the heavy favorite. MUSCOVY Andretti was expected to be his closest competitor, but he finished a distant 4th in the 5-DUCKathlete field.

“It’ll be interesting to see if DUCKson comes out with more fire and focus or falls more toward failure this weekend,” race director Steve Templeman said. “I’m sure he’s ticked, but I’m sure Danica is inspired and so are the others.”For the weekend, a total of $144 was raised for local nonprofit Celebrate HARVEST through the “bets” that race fans placed (in the form of a donation) on the races. A total of 159 “bets” were placed and Scott DUCKson had the most bets placed on him with 67. So far, a total of 209 bets have been placed over two weekends and $201 raised. Racing will resume this weekend – Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 3 pm – at Maris Farms. The featured marquee race of the weekend is the 24 Hours at LaMandarin on Sunday at 3 pm.

Top DUCKathlete sweeps weekend, captures 24-hours at La Mandarin and secures season series title

After an epic letdown in weekend #2, Scott DUCKson was laser focused on the task of winning all 4 QUACKY FOWL racing series races – including Sunday’s 24-Hours at La Mandarin – and securing a season series title in the process. The funky fowl did not disappoint as he dominated the the field of five DUCKathletes all weekend long!

“After losing to Danica (DUCKtrick) last weekend in the DUCKtona, I was seriously pissed,” said DUCKson to a gathering of the press after Sunday’s 24-Hours at La Mandarin. “I trained my feather tails off this past week and made sure there would be no doubt who the top DUCKathlete was by the time we were headed back to our racing quarters this afternoon.”

DUCKson was never challenged all weekend, winning both races on Saturday by wide margins and taking both races on Sunday by equally large margins.

“He’s separated himself from this field, no doubt,” said longtime race announcer Dennis “QUACKmaster” Riley. “And he’s put himself amongst the top DUCKathletes we’ve ever had here. I don’t think any of them have secured a season series title this fast – with two weekends of racing left. He is one kick-butt-quack.”

Indeed, no duck in the 11-year history of duck racing at Maris Farms has ever secured the season series title so soon. DUCKson is sure to be a Hall-of-FOWLer and go down as one of the great DUCKathletes to have ever raced at Maris Farms.

“Let’s just take it one race at a time,” race director and creator Steve Templeman said. “I’ve seen a lot of great DUCKathletes over the past decade falter at some point during the month-long season. We still have 8 races left and one of them is the QUACKyard 400 on Sunday. Danica doesn’t duck the competition and she will surely not just lay down and let DUCKson have it.”

The rest of the QUACKY-FOWL racing series (presented by Goodwill ORR and Bootlegger’s Bar & Grill) field – Denny Mandarin, “BILL” Elliott and MUSCOVY Andretti – are still winless as we head into weekend #4.

For this past weekend, a total of $167 was raised for local nonprofit Celebrate HARVEST through the “bets” that race fans placed (in the form of a donation) on the races. A total of 198 “bets” were placed and Scott DUCKson had the most bets placed on him with 99. So far, a total of 406 bets have been placed over three weekends and $368 raised. Racing will resume this weekend – Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 3 pm – at Maris Farms. The featured marquee race of the weekend is the QUACKyard 400 on Sunday at 3 pm.

Scotty DUCKson wins QUACKyard 400, can become greatest in duck racing history at Maris Farms

The inaugural QUACKY-FOWL racing series, sponsored by Goodwill ORR and Bootleggers Bar & Grill, heads into its final weekend with absolutely no question who is the top DUCKathlete in the 5-quack field. Scotty DUCKson has 15 wins in 16 races with his only loss coming in the second weekend to Danica DUCKtrick in the DUCKtona 500.

If he can sweep the four races this upcoming weekend, he will go down as the top DUCKathlete in duck racing history at Maris Farms’ month-long racing series.

“15 wins in 16 races with a shot at 19 out of 20 – who the hell does that?!?!” race series creator Steve Templeman asked following DUCKson’s victory on Sunday in the QUACKyard 400. “He moves with the grace of a Runner Duck but competes like a Mallard on fire…I don’t think there’s any doubt he’s going to go down as one of our best ever.”

The closest race all weekend came in the QUACKyard 400, but it was only because DUCKson stopped again in the middle of the race and waited for the field to catch up to him – much the same way he did when he lost to Danica in the DUCKtona 500. Except this time, he kicked it into high gear and passed everyone like they were standing still.

“Wasn’t going to let that happen again,” DUCKson said after the race. “I lost a little focus, but was familiar with the situation and knew how to deal with it. Adversity came knocking again, and I was ready to slam the door on its face!”

Although it’s the first year for the QUACKY-FOWL racing series, duck racing has been occurring at Maris Farms for 11 years now, and no duck has ever secured the season series title so soon, let alone won 15 of their first 16 races.

“He’s proven he can win the tough ones and the less pressure-filled ones,” race announcer Dennis “QUACKmaster” Riley said. “The top DUCKathletes we’ve had in the past have really never excelled to this degree. I think DUCK Norris hit 15 last year, and that was an exceptional performance. Should be interesting to see if he can sweep the weekend one more time. The duck-racing world will be watching.”

For this past weekend, a total of $86 was raised for local nonprofit Celebrate HARVEST through the “bets” that race fans placed (in the form of a donation) on the races. A total of 151 “bets” were placed and Scott DUCKson had the most bets placed on him with 66. So far, a total of 557 bets have been placed over three weekends and $454 raised. Racing will resume this weekend – Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 3 pm – at Maris Farms.

Scotty DUCKson wins 19 of 20 races, captures QUACKY-FOWL series title and become the GOAT

In his debut as one of the five ducks competing in the inaugural QUACKY-FOWL racing series, Scotty DUCKson set the standard for future DUCKathletes hoping to make a name for themselves in the month-long event at Maris Farms.

The QUACKY-FOWL racing series – sponsored by Goodwill ORR and Bootleggers Bar & Grill this year – was a hit, though duck racing has been a staple at the Buckley farm for 11 years (the first decade as the Iron Duck World Championships). And during that first 10 seasons, no duck had ever secured the season series title so soon (two weeks ago) or won more than 13 races in a season before Scotty DUCKson.

“No doubt, I was on a mission, especially after that loss to Danica (DUCKtrick) in the second weekend,” DUCKson told a small gathering of reporters following Sunday’s final race. “Due respect to her, she caught me when I had lost my focus. There was no FOWL play in her victory, just a bad effort and performance by me and a solid effort on her part. I just told myself that wasn’t going to happen again.”

And it didn’t.

DUCKson won his first seven races, before losing to DUCKtrick in the DUCKtona 500, and then finished the season with 12 wins in a row. He swept four of five weekends (4 races each weekend) and he often was never challenged during those wins.

“Like I said last weekend to you all, who the hell does this?!?!” race series creator Steve Templeman asked following DUCKson’s victory on Sunday in the final race of the season. “DUCKson is undoubtedly the GOAT here for this event, and I’m not sure we’ll see another like him for quite awhile.”

Longtime race announcer Dennis “QUACKmaster” Riley said it was a performance unlike anything he’s witnessed during this decade of duck racing.

“You just don’t see many that can achieve at that level over a month-long racing season,” Riley said. “DUCK Norris hit 15 last year, and that was an exceptional performance – one I thought would be hard to match. Turns out, old Scotty DUCKson had something else in mind. The duck-racing world has a new GOAT.”

For this past weekend, a total of $146 was raised for local nonprofit Celebrate HARVEST through the “bets” that race fans placed (in the form of a donation) on the races. A total of 165 “bets” were placed and Scott DUCKson had the most bets placed on him with 86. A total of 722 bets were placed over five weekends and $600 raised. Racing will resume in the fall of 2024 at Maris Farms.

DUCKson domination is historical
